I attended the republican strawpoll yesterday (Nov. 28) in St. Petersburg, FL. There seemed to be more Ron Paul supporters than supporters for any of the other republican candidates. Despite the straw poll being rigged, Ron Paul managed to get second place. After the straw poll, Ron Paul supporters waved signs in front of the theater where the actual debate was. Again, Ron Paul had the biggest crowd. There were a few Rudy supporters. I almost feel sorry for the Rudy supporters because there are ineffect asking to be slaves to the state and they don’t even know it. After the debate, Ron Paul gave one of his really good speeches. I think that if somebody doesn’t know who Ron Paul is, they can listen to this speech and get an idea of why we support him so vigorously. A link to the video is here. If anybody has a better quality video, leave a comment. For those who say that Ron Paul doesn’t support the troops, I say two things.
1. Ron Paul supports the troops by wanting to bring them home.
2. Ron Paul has received the most donations from the military.

It will be most interesting to see if the new media, the internet, might actually damage the long, indeed overlong, influence of the paper and television media. Media control is the pre-condition for Dictatorship. Ron Paul need not win, but if there is a significant vote for him, he has, in effect, won. It will mean that the new media has proven successful in allowing voters a free and participatory dialogue rather than, as has been the case, a judgment based upon the passive, and necessary, acceptance of what has been told to them, in effect, the passive reception of a monologue (e.g., “talking heads” and “editorial policy”). The inexorable obsolescence of traditional monologue media means the end of the power of external authority to determine the limits, terms, and subjects of a debate. A vote for Ron Paul is indeed a vote for freedom. Who knows, even the sheep may begin to make a bit of trouble for their sel-apppointed appointed Shepards!
